As a school librarian, I serve a young population of 5- to 8-year-olds. If I had a dime for every time I am asked (daily!), "Do you have any of those Wimpy Kid books?", I'd be rich. The "Wimpy Kid" books are, by far, the most requested books in our library! I have multiple copies of each, and there is a waiting list for all of them, several kids deep. At first I thought they wanted them because their older siblings were reading them, and they just sometimes like the feel of a big fat chapter book (not that these are that big or fat), but then after they would tell me about their favorite parts, I knew they were reading them themselves. Kudos to Jeff Kinney--how rare to write a book that appeals just as much to a middle-schooler as it does to a YOUNG elementary-age child (and whose content is not too sophisticated or inappropriate for the younger set)!Get more detail about Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw.
