Magic Tree House Boxed Set, Books 1-4: Dinosaurs Before Dark, The Knight at Dawn, Mummies in the Morning, and Pirates Past Noon Best Quality

Others have already said it, so I'm just adding my review to be another voice. I will try to use statements and be objective. If I make grammatical errors, remember the fact is I'm not writing children's books and I'm not making anyone pay for my review. :)

I just bought this to read to my just-turned-4-year old. He sat through the whole first book and only asked a few questions. It appeared and felt like the story was interesting enough.

BUT...the sentence structure is not correct, so much so that I had a hard time reading it without SOUNDING choppy. "Annie was at the top of the hill. Feeding magnolia flowers to the giant Anatasaurus."

My opinion:
It's fun (albeit not very smooth!) to read aloud, captivates, maybe introduces children to chapter books (where you might have to read part of the book one night and continue the next) and seems lightly educational without being too lecture-like. I would not recommend this for people whose kids are learning sentence structure and where those children will be doing the reading themselves. It just seems like adding confusion. Once a kid understands proper sentence structure, a parent could just explain what's not correct in the book, or (as someone on another forum mentioned) use it as a learning tool with the kiddos taking red marker to it to find the errors. :) There are other captivating books out there with more proper sentence structure, so I'm not swayed by the "...it's just important to get kids interested in reading!" argument. :)

I likely won't buy more of these.Get more detail about Magic Tree House Boxed Set, Books 1-4: Dinosaurs Before Dark, The Knight at Dawn, Mummies in the Morning, and Pirates Past Noon.
