It is my understanding this author's majority works are in the romance genre. I had/have not read any other works by Ms. Marr and was unsure about reading any hard core romance. Traditional romance = YAWN in my opinion. After reading the reviews and determining the story line and plot involved some fantasy. I thought fairies aren't my top choice but why let that stop me from trying a free book. This book is not with out it's flaws. As long as you don't get hung up on the holes it's a fun read. Below are my thoughts of the players if you will....
I thought The "Summer King" Keenan was short sighted, self involved, and lacked Whit. He wasn't the prince we picture when we think romantic.
At times the main character Aislinn seemed unable to come up with original ideas. She seemed to need her boyfriend's problem solving skills at every turn.
Donia was one of my favorite characters in this book. She kept her head up in spite of her emotional scars. She was more then fair through out the book even though she had a large personal stake in the out come. Integrity and self sacrifice would describe Donia well.
The winter queen was evil and that came across really clearly in this book. I easily disliked her soon after reading the first chapter.
Grams was a minor character and of no importance to the story line in my opinion.
My fav character by far is Aislinn's human best friend. Seth is perfection in my book. He is smart, loyal, brave among other excellent qualities. Seth is the reason why i may read book two in the series.
The plot is simple really. Evil is the majority rule in fea land. Prince has been manipulated by mother/evil queen and needs to find his queen in order to rule and better the fea world. OK so it's a little more plot to it then that but i can't say much without spoilers.Get more detail about Wicked Lovely.
