I can't imagine a better way for anyone (especially youngsters) to get an infusion of American history
that all but lost from schools these days. The heroic story of General George Washington and the founding
of our country in a final battle that could easily have gone either way. Young Nick McIver (12) and his sister
Kate (age 8) go back in time to help foil a pirate plot that would have ensured defeat for Washington and
his army at Yorktown. This alone would make me recommend the book. But it also deals with the Nazi
invasion of English territory, the Channel Islands, and Nick's airborn assault in an old Sopwith Camel from
WWI against the German invaders. Powerful stuff, told with passion and imagination. You and your children
